STRIPED HAND WOVEN FABRIC BURKINA FASO

This medium-weight fabric, made from 100% cotton, features white, red, and black stripes. Handwoven in Burkina Faso in collaboration with the Zoodo Association, it reflects the artistry of traditional narrow-width weaving, with each strip measuring just 29 centimeters wide. The coarse texture and striped pattern make it a unique material for projects that celebrate authenticity and cultural heritage. Traditionally, these strips are stitched together to form larger textiles used for garments like pagnes (wrap skirts) and boubous (loose-fitting robes). Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this fabric supports the Zoodo Association’s initiative to train women in weaving techniques, preserving Burkinabé cultural identity while providing sustainable incomes.
